SCHEDULES - The arrival schedules for the rest of this year are now firm as follows:

  • GN/SP&S 2-8-0 - Boo-Rim will ship September 10, so I should have them here by September 15. I will be mailing the invoices around September 10.
  • GN CLASS 0-6 2-8-2 - Samhongsa will be shipping September 30. I should have the models here by October 15 as they are coming by ocean freight.
  • NP/SP&S COMPOSITE GONDOLA/WOODCHIP CARS - The project is in the pilot model stage. The production run should arrive in December.

NP/SP&S COMPOSITE GONDOLA - WOODCHIP CARS - The production models will have completely detailed interiors. Since the prototypes were built of wood, the wood board detail must be shown on both the inside and outside of the cars. Therefore, all the wood board detail, braces, tie rods and stake pockets will be shown on the interiors and each version's interior detail will be unique as on the prototype.

NP/SP&S 0-6-'s - Current plans call for two production runs in the fall of 2004. The production runs will be split as follows:

  • FIRST PRODUCTION - NP Class L-6 and L-7 0-6-0's #900, #1031, #1033, Tacoma Belt Line 0-6-0 #912, and NP 0-6-0T #9
  • SECOND PRODUCTION - NP Class L-9 and L-10 0-6-0's #1099, #1051, #1070, #1168. SP&S #3, #4, #8.

The models will be built to the same specifications as the GN A-9 0-6-0's I did a few years ago. Maxon has developed a slower speed, high torque coreless motor, so a new gearbox will be designed to have a 20 smph top speed at 12 volts. Hopefully, one set of idler gears in the gearbox can be deleted. The models will also feature all stainless steel wheels, all wheel current pickup, lights, the boiler and cab roof filled with lead weights, and the loco and tender semi-permanently coupled together because of the wiring.  Since each locomotive version is unique, the dealers should order the models by road number.
