After more than 10 years of search, research, and effort, we are more than pleased to announce one of American railroading's most prominent Northern Class locomotives owned and operated by a railroad known for its significant utilization of this locomotive class.

Class R-67-B started life with 69 inch drivers, was later fitted with a slightly larger diameter driver arrangement and finally had 74 inch driving wheels applied. Our models will follow the driver arrangements and other details characteristic of the particular prototype locomotives being modeled.

In the prototype, the not previously modeled Class R-67-B's were capable of both heavy tonnage movements and high speed passenger service. The locomotives traversed all of the Rock Island's major areas of operation, in a number of cases requiring bridge rebuilding brought about by the locomotive's size and weight.
